Generally, we conduct meetings with member pensioners/family pensioners twice a year. On 17th December, we celebrate pensioners Day in honour of Late Shri D S Nakra, Ex. Pensioner of Defence. “Pensioners Day” is celebrated on 17th December each year by pensioners associations all over India since 1982. It is because on 17thDecember 1982, Supreme Court delivered a landmark judgement in D S Nakra case, ruling that pension is a social welfare measure and a fundamental right for past service, and not a bounty or charity, ensuring dignified lives for pensioners, protecting them from discretionary denial of benefits.

This event is viewed as a get-together of pensioners/family pensioners in a celebratory manner and remembering the efforts and struggle of Late Shri D S Nakra for making the life of pensioners a lot easier and trouble free. During this event, we conduct inter-active session pertaining to the grievances of pensioners and enlighten them regarding latest guidelines/circulars from central government in a easy way. Some entertainment programmes like music, informative Video shows are also arranged to suit the occasion and much to the liking of pensioners/family pensioners.

We conduct cleanliness and health awareness camps at various locations during the month of October every year in pursuance of the directives and guidelines from the Department of Pension and Pensioners Welfare ( DOP&PW), Pension Ministry, Govt. of India, to inculcate the importance of healthy and hygienic living amongst the people for overall healthy living condition of our home, society, city, state and nation.

Also this association assist pensioners/family pensioners in submission of their Life Certificates to the banks, digitally, for continuation of the payment of pension, thereby making the pensioners/family pensioners tension free and enjoy ease of living. Pensioners over 80 years of age or those unable to visit banks for submission of Life certificate, we arrange submission of their Life Certificate, digitally through home visit. Also we guide and assist pensioners /family pensioners to get Jeevan Pramaan Application downloaded on their Mobile Phone to submit their life certificate digitally using their own device. Quite a large number of pensioners have availed this facility and have appreciated this pensioner friendly government initiative immensely.

Office bearers of this association assist pensioners/family pensioners in generation of Unique Medical Identification (UMID) card in their favour through on line registration.

This association runs a charitable Homeopathic clinic at 11:00 hrs, every Sunday, at our office. Local Homeopath, Dr. Nirali Shah (BHMS, MScCFT) manage the clinic and render invaluable medical consultation, medical checkup and homeopathic medicines to all needy patients free of cost. She is a well-established homeopath practitioner having her own Homeopathic clinic. In spite of her busy schedule, she is sparing her quality time for our charitable clinic and thereby contributing her bit to the social cause. We sincerely appreciate her charity work. Interested committee members render valuable assistance in managing the clinic.
